The Colorado Brewers Guild Hires New Marketing and Events Manager

DENVER - May 30, 2019 - The Colorado Brewers Guild (CBG) has created a new position, marketing and event manager. Tristan Schmid, formerly of the Brewers of Indiana Guild, joined the CBG in this position in mid-May. Schmid will be responsible for the promotion of Colorado craft beer through the execution of the CBG’s events, collaboration with members and partners, fundraising, and marketing efforts with local and state tourism offices.

“Colorado craft beer is full of variety, creativity and pride,” said Schmid. “Since joining the CBG team, I’ve had the opportunity to meet with many Guild members, and I’ve already seen how so many breweries are woven into the fabric of the state.”

As the communications director for the Brewers of Indiana Guild, he led promotional efforts for the organization's festivals — such as the long running Indiana Microbrewers Festival—attracting more than 20,000 attendees annually to events across the state. He developed the Guild's "Drink Indiana Beer" branding and merchandising program and led collaborations with renowned Hoosier breweries such as 3 Floyds, Sun King, and Upland.

Schmid’s goals for the CBG include using his experience to ramp up the merchandise program, optimize the festival experience for breweries and festival guests, and assist in generating additional revenue to support the Guild’s mission to promote and protect Colorado craft breweries.

Before working in the brewing industry, Schmid served as director of communications and marketing at IndyHumane, the largest animal shelter in Indiana, and oversaw promotion of the nonprofit's "Mutt Strut,” a fundraising walk around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway which attracted more than 10,000 attendees, both two- and four-legged.

Tristan has two mixed-breed dogs who beg him to play frisbee with them multiple times every day. As a one-time resident of Boulder, he's already enjoying being back in the mountains to ski and hike.

“The craft beer community is unlike any other. I love the camaraderie, experimentation, potential, and fun,” said Schmid.
