Lexa PR Looks to 2018

While 2017 was certainly an interesting year, here at Lexa PR we’re looking forward to what 2018 will bring. More press hits? More time to stop and smell the roses? The gals at Lexa PR reflect on what they hope to accomplish in the coming year.

What trends do you hope will continue in 2018?

Alex: Small businesses growing and continuing to help improve the economy. Small businesses are the backbone of our country and as they grow, more dollars are spent locally. #ShopLocal is not something new, it is how things were originally done and it is exciting to see a shift back towards knowing the person behind the products in our everyday lives.

Chea: From the women’s march to Oprah on the most recent Golden Globes, it’s been a tremendous year for women. In the beer industry, we’re seeing more media coverage about women working in beer. While it’s great that we’re getting some of the spotlight, I’d love to see this trend flourish on its own without having to point it out. Let’s have more articles referencing women in beer without having to state it as anything novel. This is how we even the playing field.

What are your professional goals for the year?

Alex: To become a better leader. In January 2017 I thought Lexa PR would always be a one-woman shop, this little agency was suppose to be my side-hustle. However, the universe had other plans. Lexa PR doubled in size last year and we are now a shop of 2! The way things are going it looks like we will need to bring more kicka** people on board soon. I want to make sure I am a strong leader so that I can help the amazing people who support me, grow and become bomba** leaders and then we can all change the world!

Chea: Practice becoming. Kurt Vonnegut has a great quote which I’d love to roll into my professional thought process. “Practice any art, music, singing, dancing, acting, drawing, painting, sculpting, poetry, fiction, essays, reportage, no matter how well or badly, not to get money and fame, but to experience becoming, to find out what’s inside you, to make your soul grow.”  The world of communications and public relations is constantly evolving and changing. I hope to continue the practice of pitching, media relations, connecting, and so forth, to keep up with the rising tide and do better.

What are your personal goals for the year?

Alex: I spent most of 2017 rehabbing some injuries, so this year I want to get back out and run some half marathons, do an Olympic triathlon, and maybe even complete another marathon. For Lexa PR, I would love to see us continue to grow, develop our identity and see how we can make the world a better place.

Chea: Last year, admittedly, I had not been taking great care of myself. In the past two months, I was sick three times! This year, I’m going to be better at listening to my body so that I know when I need to slow down or take a breather. We’re in a constant state of go-go-go which can definitely impact both your mental state and immune system.  Professionally, I’m so excited to spread the word about all of our amazing clients and to see what opportunities arise. Oh, and puppies. More puppies in 2018 please.
